Courtpsych Australia

what i do

At CourtPsych Australia I use my specialist skills and knowledge to support witnesses and organisations through cases at every level of the legal process - from civil to criminal to workplace law.

With an accumulated 30+ years working in and with the legal system I know how to support you, your staff and your employees to meet the demands of the legal system. I do this by providing support for executives, employees, workgroups and teams in relation to court appearances, stress management and critical incident management associated with court matters. I also specialise in reducing the potential stress reaction risks that often result from high pressure court appearances.

If and when necessary I engage some of the best professionals from a select group of associates who possess expert skills for those times when there are unique demands.  These professionals are experienced in court related matters and understand the associated demands.

Because I believe results matter, I always strive for goodness of fit and engagement of outstanding professionals to ensure that your needs are met.

Services

  • As any good legal practitioner will attest, preparation for a legal case is vital. I believe, and my experience shows me, that proper psychological preparation of witnesses helps them to better manage the high emotion and rigours of court.

Proper preparation also better enables the provision of effective and accurate evidence to the court.

I will work with you, your organisation and your legal team to effectively prepare for court.

  • Having someone there who knows the courts, the environment and 'the ropes' can be extremely reassuring.

That's my job - to provide expert onsite psychological support throughout the hearing.

And most importantly, my support will ensure that your legal team can focus on what they do best - running your case.

  • Just because the case is over or perhaps adjourned for an extended period doesn't mean that it's all over. Stress reactions post hearing can be a very real consequence - whether you win, lose or settle.

That's why it's critical that proper de-briefing, defusing and assessment of the witness is undertaken. At times it may even be necessary to refer a person on for further support and de-briefing.

Without proper post-court assessment and support witnesses may continue to be at risk but go undetected, creating a risk to them and their organisation.

my clients

Simply put, I am a professional working with and supporting other professionals and their clients. I extend my services to law firms and other organisations, individual legal practitioners and to individuals facing litigation.

I work with diverse groups including corporations, Not for Profits, government organisations (both State and Federal), NGO's and individual clients. My clients also include individuals who wish to discretely and confidentially engage my services outside of their organisation's usual supports such as Employee Assistance Programmes (EAP).
